Friday Prayers in Downtown Halifax
Posted: May 11th 2011The Islamic Association of Nova Scotia is pleased to announce that regular Friday Prayers are held for the Muslim students of Dalhousie University and Muslim community of the area at the St. David's Church in downtown Halifax in its basement hall. The address of the building is:
Church of the Saint David
1537 Brunswick St
Halifax, NS B3J 2G1
Prayer times will be from 1:00 till 2:30PM.
Kindly ensure that the place is used only during the above specified timings and also observe the church rules and regulations like proper parking, building safety, bathroom usage etc for compliance. Please also ensure that prayer mats and sheets are removed afterwards and hall is left in the condition as was before the prayers.
Eid-ul-Fitr Announcement

The moon has been sighted, hence Eid-ul-Fitr prayers will be held tomorrow Friday, September 10th at the Exhibition Park.

Protocol for Determining Eid ul Fitr
September 2nd, 2010Islamic Association of Nova Scotia (IANS) adheres to the traditional principal that Islamic Lunar months begin and end based on the confirmed, verifiable sighting of the new crescent moon. Therefore IANS will announce the beginning and end of Ramadan after a decision has been made by the Hilal committee of Toronto who also adhere to this principal.

Potluck Iftars & Kitchen Rentals
August 12th, 2010During the month of Ramadan, there will be a potluck iftar every Saturday. Students do not have to cook or bring anything!
Note: Kitchen rental during the month of Ramadan is suspended on Saturdays.
Ramadan Update

There have been no confirmed sightings of the new crescent in the parameters of the Hilal Committee, therefore Sha'ban will complete 30 days and Ramadan will start Thursday 12th August, 2010.
Potluck Update

There will be no potluck dinner this Saturday due to the Multicultural festival on Saturday, July 3rd.

May 16th, 2010Muslim youth participated in the Walk for Memories event hosted by the Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia. Under the team name Halifax Muslims, the youth also raised $200 for this charity, Alhamdulillah.
